Supporting Families
Community Initiatives
We are committed to expanding access to equitable, community-based perinatal care. In addition to our private doula services and training programs, we are developing community initiatives that respond to gaps we see every day in care, education, and workforce sustainability.
The following initiatives are currently in development and may operate through partnerships or fiscal sponsorship as they grow.
Bridges To Birth
Community Perinatal Support & Doula Sustainability Initiative
Bridges to Birth is a community-based initiative focused on bridging gaps in perinatal care for rural, low-income, and BIPOC families. The initiative provides free and low-cost group support for pregnant and postpartum people while also supporting doulas with mentorship, education, and sustainability resources.
Bridges to Birth centers the role of doulas as community navigators—helping families understand medical care, access local resources, and feel supported beyond clinical settings—while also addressing the emotional and practical sustainability of the doula workforce.
Bridges to Birth is currently exploring fiscal sponsorship and partnership opportunities to support program launch and growth.
North State Doula Training Initiative
Accessible Doula Education & Workforce Development
NSDTI is an emerging initiative focused on increasing access to doula education and mentorship in Northern California, particularly in rural and underserved communities. The initiative supports aspiring doulas with accessible training pathways, peer support, and guidance on building sustainable practices.
NSDTI was created in response to the growing demand for doulas following the expansion of insurance-covered doula services, and the lack of infrastructure to support new and transitioning doulas in serving diverse and vulnerable populations.
NSDTI is currently in development and seeking community partners and funding support.
